A big thank you to our sponsors.
Land Rover - Land Rover came on board to sponsor to travel down to climb the last of the peaks for the European project, Mount Ararat, the highest mountain in Turkey. Over 10,000 miles were covered during the months of travelling and the Land Rover, or 'The Beast' as we fondly called it, did the distance without any problems.
Karrimor - I have worn Karrimor boots throughout the whole of 'Africa's Highest Challenge'. By February 2002 I had travelled through 44 countries in Africa, and through every type of terrain imaginable - desert, jungle, swamp, to name but a few - and my Karrimor boots did me proud.
thirstpoint.com - I had identified thirstpoint.com's excellent equipment early on and thirstpoint.com was kind enough to sponsor me from the outset of 'Africa's Highest Challenge' and their product remains in my first line kit to this day. From my previous mountaineering experience and experience on courses such as the Commando course and Survival courses, I'd used most methods of water purification - pumps, tablets, iodine drops etc and they all worked. But the great advantage of thirstpoint.com's bottles is that you can't forget about purifying the water or become lazy about doing so. It's so easy. Whether I'm out in the desert, crossing swamps or just crammed in the back of a bush taxi with 20 plus people, the bottle is never out of reach.
Mars - I contacted Mars some time after I'd embarked upon 'Africa's Highest Challenge' and without any hesitation they supplied a substantial quantity of Mars bars. I, together with many of the locals in Africa, sat on the top of a mountain on many occasions savouring a Mars bar after a long, hard trek.
